Walking on Jura

Conquer the infamous Paps of Jura

Hillwalkers and hikers will be spoilt for choice. The main attraction here are The Paps of Jura. Three rugged mountains which (once you reach the top) provide panoramic views to our neighbouring islands as well as the mainland.

We have walks that take a day like Beinn an Oir at 785m, or combine with the other two paps for a more challenging two day hike.

We also have a number of smaller walks such as the island crossing at Tarbert. If wooded areas and rugged sandy beaches are your thing, head to the northern end of the island.

A note for visitors and walkers on the hills - Deer stalking takes place between the months of July and February, so if you plan to visit us during these months, please, as a courtesy contact the relevant estates in advance before you plan to go on your walk. This ensures the deer stalkers know of your presence and helps to keep everyone safe to enjoy the countryside in their own way. Contact details for all the estates can be found at www.juradmg.co.uk

Enjoy a dram

And after a busy day of exploring, it’s time for a stroll around our whisky distillery and a well-earned dram. For the gin lovers, you can also check out the Lussa Gin distillery at the north of the island. Or if you're in need of a hearty meal, it's time to refuel at the Jura Hotel.
